Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Back-End Architect
Type: Full-time, Independent Contractor
Hours: Light consulting starting in August, then 8 hours/day beginning in September
Duration: potentially 12-16 weeks for build phase, plus maintenance period

About the Project
Our client is building a robust, scalable AEM-based platform from the ground up. This project involves translating detailed designs and functional specifications into a fully operational AEM solution for enterprise-level content management and digital experience delivery.
Requirements
Experience
- 5+ years of professional Adobe Experience Manager development experience
- Expert-level experience with both AEM 6.5 and AEM Cloud Service
- Strong proficiency with Maven build and deployment processes
- Proven track record building complete AEM solutions from designs and functional specifications
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline setup (preferred)
- Proficiency with Jira, Git, and AGILE development workflows
- Agency or consulting experience strongly preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with stakeholders
Technical Skills
- Deep AEM architecture knowledge and Java/OSGi expertise
- Experience with AEM dispatcher, caching, and integration patterns
- Familiarity with Adobe Cloud Manager and deployment processes
Responsibilities
- Architect and develop comprehensive AEM solution from provided specifications
- Set up AEM 6.5 and AEM Cloud Service environments
- Implement Maven-based build and deployment processes
- Develop custom AEM components, templates, and workflows
- Establish CI/CD pipelines and participate in AGILE workflows
- Document technical architecture and conduct code reviews
- Support platform during maintenance period following build
